Danny’s
Burger lovers are a loyal and passionate mob.
But lucky for them, there’s lots of really good ones around and you don’t have to go far to find some of the best.
Danny’s is an inexpensive and laid back place that consistently delivers absolute rippers.
Each day without fuss, they serve up hundreds of delicious juicy old school burgers that people might think have all but disappeared or been forgotten in the era of drive throughs.
Voted Melbourne’s number one burger destination by Master Chef’s Matt Preston gives some indication of how good the experience will be at Danny’s and the position it holds in our culinary fast food hearts.
And it’s not just TV food judges who rate it.
Of the 200 readers of The Age surveyed, 30 percent voted Danny’s Diner as Melbourne’s best one out of a nominated 70 burger locations,
There’s two Danny’s locations (Northcote and St.Kilda) and while the small corner shop at Barkly and Carlisle Street doesn’t strike you straight away as an award winner, don’t judge a book by its cover.
Inside it’s clean bright and relaxed with lively staff eager to please and ease hungry stomachs.
There are lots of burger menu choices available at Danny’s or feel free to design your own stack, by adding any combination of your favourite ingredients.
Apart from the traditional beef, there is also a lamb or chicken version with each patty/cut of meat, fresh, filling and extremely tasty.
No matter which way you go, each is mouth-wateringly yummy and perfectly constructed.
And if you just can’t decide what you feel like, then those behind the counter will be more than happy to whip up their own burger surprise.
While Danny’s is renowned for award winning burgers, there’s no shortage of other choices.
So for those want something lighter or if you aren’t in the burger mood, (although you’d be crazy to pass up the opportunity to enjoy one), there are also some great sandwiches, wraps, dim sims and more as well as great hot chips to go with anything.
And for those who are really hungry and want to test their mettle, ask for the triple burger with the lot. More than a meal and a half.
Eat in or take away, Danny’s is definitely a burger lovers destination.
It’s open daily until late, so even if you’re craving a fix after a night out, then they’ll be able to help you out.
And with everything reasonably priced, ($22 for one single burger, one double burger with chips, and two dim sims), a visit there won’t empty your wallet.
A pocket full of change will just about cover it.
Danny’s: ‘Creating Burgers for Melbourne since 1945’, almost says it all… They just needed to add the word sensational!!
