Madame Brussels
Madame Brussels reminds us a little of a garden party or a week at Wimbledon especially given the tennis/sports uniforms worn by the staff who seem to be sponsored by Lacoste or Fred Perry.
We’re not sure where the inspiration for the decor for this outstanding rooftop bar came from however within a short period it has truly become one of Melbourne’s favourites.
The experience starts as you enter the building and take the lift to the third floor or perhaps walk the stairs past a classic Japanese karaoke bar.
Reach the top and you are greeted by an English ‘garden party’ complete with artificial grass flooring and garden furniture.
With the great atmosphere it’s the drink concoctions that are worth coming for. These guys know how to mix and serve fantastic cocktails with service that’s friendly, knowledgeable and, while often busy remains efficient.
The crowd often consists of university students and the younger set, but the atmosphere is friendly and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome.
Another feature is the sensational terrace seating on two levels with fabulous views over the Melbourne skyline including Parliament house.
This place is definitely very Melbourne and suitably quirky to enchant visitors to the city.
It also gets extra credibility from being part of the fantastic stable of bars put together by Vernon Chalker and his associates.
