Newtown (SC) Social Club

Maybe I spend too much time in and around inner Melbourne, but with a plethora of sensational local cafes, each with their own style and quirkiness, they are all worth of visiting, and often. 

Newtown SC on the lesser travelled part of Brunswick St. Fitzroy (up near the Housing Commission flats), is another of my favourites and one of the best. We love owner operated places by those who understand what the customers want, keep it simple but the standard high.

And there’s definitely no airs and graces in this unpretentious and petite venue.

Using their own special Jaspers blend, Newtown’s coffee is smooth, rich and leaves me wishing that I didn’t just limit myself to one per establishment.

Food is all fresh daily with breakfasts and a choice of great baguettes (including vegetarian), homemade soup, cookies, cakes and other nibblies all which can be eaten at one of the small tables dotted around the room, up at the bar or even on an outdoor table.

Bravo Newtown’s…just keep doing what you are doing and we’ll keep coming back and sending others!!
