Three Bags Full
Damn, the cafe society is clever.
Three Bags Full has only just opened and Melbourne has already discovered and enthusiastically embraced it.
Nathan and the gang who brought us APTE and Liar Liar truly understand what it takes to produce a sensational cafe, catering for those who live in the area, yet good enough to draw others from near and far.
Located in a wonderful warehouse conversion, I wish Three Bags Full was on the ground floor of my apartment building.
But as it’s only a 10 minute walk from home, I shouldn’t complain… Having it so close gets me out and about and encourages me to do some exercise and walk off their wonderful food and coffee.
With an industrial look that maintains the heritage of the original Denton Mills Hat Factory and a modern flourish, Three Bags Full is informal, comfortable and most welcoming with plenty of bench, table, outdoor and counter seating.
Food is the focus and there’s lots of delicious choices on the all day breakfast or lunch menus:
Sardine provencale – panfried with tomatoes, olives and basil on organic toast, ricotta hotcakes with poached seasonal fruit, honey and orange infused ricotta, parmesan eggs, poached free range sourdough, with prosciutto, parmesan and truffle oil, home cured salmon with pea, feta and corn fritter, avocado, rocket, and a dill sour crea, home made toasted granola trifle, bircher muesli,
field mushrooms stuffed with parmesan and parsley, smashed avocado on organic sourdough with Persian fetta, toasted seeds and olive oil and lots more beside s including three other specialty egg dishes…. yum yum!!
Lunch might be one of their 12 choices in baguettes, pressed wraps or toasted sourdough sandwiches, truffle polenta with mushroom ragout, a cheese kransky with coleslaw and dauphinoise potatoes or an open sandwich of braised lamb with roasted peppers, feta and rocket.
Tempted?? I’m sure you are.
Then there’s their coffee. It too deserves special mention. The blend used depends on the choice in coffee with different ones for a latte, espresso or cappuccino.
I love that Three Bags Full provides customers with the option to try a variety of blends, continuing the recent trend of educating coffee devotees about the brew and keeping in mind that one size or choice, might not suit everyone.
And now, they’re even doing their own roasting!!
Parking in the area is pretty good and as it’s so close to the City, popping into Three Bags Full as a treat or a destination is easy.
We hope it’s one for Melbournians and visitors to our City to savour for a long time to come.
I say, Yes Sir, Yes, Sir!!
